Glynn Purnell’s Friday Night Kitchen set to return

Following the success of last year’s event which raised over £60,000, Cure Leukaemia has announced that Glynn Purnell’s Friday Night Kitchen will return for 2017.

The event, which is now in its third year, is making the move to The Vox at Resorts World Birmingham later this year. This will see the Friday night fundraiser increase its capacity from 400 to 800, in an ambitious attempt to raise over £100,000 for its £1m Centre Appeal.

Fronted by proud Brummie Glynn Purnell, the event will feature a four-course, five-star dinner created by the TV chef. Throughout the night, Purnell, who regularly features on BBC’s Saturday Kitchen and has just been confirmed as host for Channel 4’s My Kitchen Rules alongside Rachel Allen, brings a host of his celebrity friends to the stage to help serve up a feast to remember. Previous guests have included fellow Brummie Rustie Lee, Masterchef host Gregg Wallace and TV star Jimi Mistry.

Speaking about the event, Purnell, who is a Trustee of Cure Leukaemia, said:“GPFNK gets bigger and better each year, thanks to the calibre of our celebrity chefs and most of all, our fantastic guests! There is such a great buzz in the room, and everyone comes together to have fun whilst raising money for Cure Leukaemia, a Birmingham-based charity that I am immensely proud to support.”

Taking place on Friday 6 October 2017, GPFNK has become a flagship fundraiser for Cure Leukaemia; highlighting the work that the charity does and helping to raise vital funds. At the start of this year, the Birmingham-based charity launched a £1 million Appeal to fully fund the expansion of the Centre for Clinical Haematology in Birmingham, which is known across the world for its ground-breaking work with blood cancer.

Cure Leukaemia CEO, James McLaughlin, said: “This is a landmark year for our charity as we work hard to reach our one million pound target. The transformational project will see the capacity for patients, clinical trials and specialist research at the Centre for Clinical Haematology double, which is just fantastic. We are so proud to be leading the way with the treatment of blood cancer and the results speak for themselves; with more and more lives being saved every day.

“We have some truly exciting and inspirational fundraising projects taking place this year, and GPFNK is absolutely one of them. It’s an event like no other – hosted by the proudest Brummie you could ever meet. Glynn puts his heart and soul into serving up a great night for the GPFNK guests and we’re delighted to be able to expand the event, and be partnering with The VoX and Birmingham Airport.

“It would be great to see a sell-out event with 800 people joining us for a great Friday night, and even better if we can reach our £100,000 fundraising goal. If you haven’t been before, I urge you to join us as it’s a Friday to remember.”
