Police declared a major incident in Worcester after a 200,000 sq ft distribution warehouse caught fire.

At its height, around 70 firefighters battled the blaze at the ArrowXL hub at the Blackpole Trading Estate, to the north of the city.

The fire broke out at around 8.30am on Thursday with the cause still to be determined.

Although up to 200 staff work in the distribution hub at any one time, no injuries were reported.

ArrowXL, which specialises in two-man home delivery services, confirmed its business continuity plan was in place.

It added: “Plans are being finalised for our customers to move operations from Worcester to a group owned site.”

ArrowXL’s Worcester hub has been operating since 1994 and it handles deliveries for Midlands and South West.
