Property industry charity, LandAid, has teamed up with regeneration group St. Modwen, to launch its first ever Midlands 10K race to tackle homelessness in the region.

The event, on Wednesday September 13, will see runners race around company’s Longbridge redevelopment.

LandAid is aiming to raise £30,000 from the race, which will help with its work converting long-term empty properties into safe, warm homes for vulnerable young people.

The majority of funds raised will support young homeless people in the Midlands, with the rest going towards other homelessness projects across the UK.

The LandAid Midlands 10K follows the success of the LandAid 10K in London, which is now in its 21st year and last year saw 800 property runners participate.

Paul Morrish, chief executive at LandAid said: “We’re thrilled to be holding our first LandAid Midlands 10K this year. LandAid has a strong presence in the Midlands, with a track record of supporting projects that tackle youth homelessness in the region, and with a new LandAid Midlands board established to help drive fundraising.”

Mark Allan, chief executive at St. Modwen said: “We are very proud to be the hosts and headline sponsors of LandAid’s first 10K run in Birmingham. St. Modwen is committed to creating long-term sustainable communities and breathing new life into areas that need it the most across the UK. Therefore, we place great importance on the work LandAid carries out, delivering life changing services to young people facing homelessness.

“Longbridge is a perfect destination for the 10K run and we look forward to participating in the event alongside colleagues, partners and clients in September.”
