£5m turnover baby products group expands to support growth

A West Midlands company specialising in the growing UK nursery and baby products industry has relocated to larger premises to support its growth.

In the past three years Green Sheep Group, which has brands including The Little Green Sheep and Snüz, has increased annual sales by more than 500% to over £5m.

The company now employs 25 people – having created 18 new jobs in the past three years. It is also embarking on a further significant recruitment programme to meet demand.

Now, as it continues to rapidly grow and expand, it has re-located to 5,000 sq ft premises near Stratford-Upon-Avon having outgrown its old offices in Redditch. The group has also expanded its 12,000 sq ft distribution centre in Redditch, which it is retaining.

At the same time, Roger Allen, who has served as chairman of the company since January 2014, has been appointed chief executive in a move designed to strengthen the firm’s management team and to allow it to concentrate on its growth plans. These include innovation in new products and a push to grow its export business.

The group’s products are stocked by leading retailers such as Mamas and Papas, Mothercare, John Lewis, Amazon and selected independents throughout the UK.

Mr Allen said: “This is a really exciting enterprise that has grown from a micro-business to an SME and is now heading towards mid-market territory. It has a proven track-record and is well placed to take on significant growth opportunities. Despite outstanding successes however, our feet remain firmly on the ground.

“I am delighted to take on this full-time (chief) executive role in a business I greatly admire and which has benefited from a positive culture, a firm belief in its products and a clear focus on customers. It has superb opportunities both in the UK and internationally.”

He said the business had continued to grow organically, through both innovative product development and international expansion.
