Jaguar serves up a Wimbledon teaser for new model launch

Wimbledon Centre Court with the outline of the new Jaguar

Jaguar has teased the look of its latest model – the XF Sportbrake – by using the backdrop of one of the world’s most famous sporting venues.

The company traced the lines of the new across the manicured surface of Wimbledon’s Centre Court.

Ian Callum, Director of Design at Jaguar, watched as groundstaff at the All England Tennis Club transformed the venue’s famous white lines under the expert eye of Head Groundsman Neil Stubley.

Mr Callum said: “With XF Sportbrake we’ve created a silhouette which sweeps towards the rear, almost into the distance, and really gives the car a sense of speed and sportiness. It will bring new levels of practicality to the range without sacrificing the dynamic design and agile handling our customers expect.”

Mr Stubley said: “Ian and I come from very different professions but the roles of Head Groundsman and Design Director at Jaguar have one thing in common – our dedication to achieving perfect precise lines.  If we get one line out of place, the whole world will see it, so it’s vital that we achieve 100% precision with every line we draw.”

The XF Sportbrake estate will join the XF sports saloon in the Jaguar line-up when it goes on sale this summer.

The new model (below) replaces the outgoing version of the Sportbrake, which was originally launched at the Geneva Motor Show in 2012.

Jaguar secured access to the famous tennis venue as it is again the official car partner for the  Wimbledon tournament, which runs from Monday July 3 to Sunday July 16.
