A Staffordshire fitness firm has invested in new premises after securing a £1.5m funding deal.

The finance deal from NatWest will allow Leek-based Staffs Fitness to further expand its business, creating 10 new jobs.

Founded in 1980 by current managing director, Gareth Mckay, Staffs Fitness is one of the UK’s largest fitness equipment wholesalers.

With 20 staff, the firm supplies a range of gym equipment, including its own brand, to a host of UK businesses.

The company has its own in-house sourcing capability, refurbishment and assembly operation, while a showroom enables staff to demonstrate the products and equipment to customers before they purchase.

Gareth Mckay, managing director of Staffs Fitness, said: “(The) funding will allow us to embark on a new growth phase. We are looking forward to opening up in new premises in what is a very exciting time for the business.”

Michael Hall, relationship director at NatWest, who arranged the deal, said: “It is always rewarding to work with a company that is having a positive impact on business in the local community. Staffs Fitness is not only creating new jobs, but is also expanding to service more clients and businesses in the Staffordshire area and beyond.

“We are confident Gareth and his team will be successful in taking the business to the next stage.”
