A West Midland accountancy firm has expanded into new, larger premises to sustain its growth.

Blackthorns has moved to an office by Lye train station that is twice the size of its previous base in Kidderminster.

The new offices will give the firm additional meeting rooms, dedicated car parking and the ability to exploit its beneficial transport links to the Black Country, Birmingham and the Midlands in general.

The practice, which is run by Karen Turner and Vicky Brassington, marked the move by announcing a rebranding intended to reflect its strong local roots.

“We have grown about 25% each year since 2015, a direct result of our approach to working closely with SMEs looking for support on accountancy, business planning and corporate transactions,” said Ms Turner.

“This expansion had seen us outgrow our office in Kidderminster, so this gave us the perfect opportunity to look at finding new premises in the heart of the West Midlands, offering great transport access and providing us with the additional space to increase our team.”

She said the move to Lye offered the firm a great opportunity to grow its Black Country client base and well as re-use a vacant building.

“It’s great that we have brought an empty building back to life after over two years of being out of use,” she added.

“Embracing a new corporate identity across all marketing material and social media will enable us to strengthen our links with local businesses.”

As part of the expansion, it has also promoted two members of staff, James Basterfield and Graham Hill, to the board of directors

Ms Brassington said: “These appointments give us a really strong management team and one that we will need if we are to achieve our ambitious growth plans.

“James is a fantastic commercial operator and Graham has extensive operational experience of running a thriving office…importantly they both understand the way we like to do business.”
