Trade union relocation sees town’s biggest property deal for five years

Elgar House, Kidderminster

Trade union Community has taken a lease on new office space in Kidderminister to complete the town’s largest office deal for five years.

The union has agreed to take 5,000 sq ft of space at Elgar House, Green Street, in a deal brokered by commercial property agency KWB on behalf of landlord, Morbaine.

Malcolm Jones, of KWB’s Office Agency team, said: “We are delighted to have secured this landmark letting to Community.  Elgar House provides flexible, high specification office space behind an original period exterior.”

Formed by the merger of the Iron and Steel Trades Confederation (ISTC) and the National Union of Knitwear, Footwear & Apparel Trades (KFAT), Community represents workers in the iron and steel, domestic appliance manufacturing, clothing, textiles, footwear, road transport, betting and gaming and call centre sectors, as well as workers in voluntary organisations, workshops for visually impaired and disabled people, community-care providers and housing associations.

Elgar House, which features a mix of Art Deco and Victorian styles spread across four storeys, is centrally located close to the town’s railway station.

KWB is marketing the remaining office suites in the building, which range from 1,500 sq ft up to a total of 20,000 sq ft.
