Drayton Manor makes goodwill gesture to emergency services

Drayton Manor and first responders

A Staffordshire theme park blighted by the death of an 11-year-old girl on one of its rides has thanked the emergency services for their work by offering them free entry to the park for the remainder of its 2017 season.

Drayton Manor Park, near Tamworth, said the offer was extended to personnel from across the UK, not just the ones who had responded to the incident in May when Evha Jannath died after falling into the water at the park’s Splash Canyon rapids ride.

The park said it wanted to acknowledge the commitment the emergency services made to keeping their local communities safe.

William Bryan, managing director at Drayton Manor Park said: “Our selfless first responders put us first and themselves second every day. They are heroes in every sense of the word and we all owe them our gratitude.  We’re delighted to be able to show our appreciation to our invaluable emergency services by welcoming them here to the park for a well-deserved day out with their families.”

The offer extends to all those who are first responders; fire and rescue service, police, ambulance and air ambulance services, including emergency medical dispatchers, emergency care assistants and paramedics.

To take the theme park up on its gesture, they will have to produce a valid personnel ID card or a Blue Light Card.
