Celebrity hairdresser Adee Phelan launches new range SKNHEAD

Celebrity hairdresser and beauty entrepreneur Adee Phelan, who was brought up in Birmingham, has launched a new male range after ditching his salons to focus on online retail.

Titled SKNHEAD, the range is the first from Adee, who is best known for winning British Men’s Hairdresser of the Year in 2000 after just 18 months in the industry before going on to win Male Celebrity Hairdresser of the Year twice and being the man behind David Beckham’s infamous mohawk haircut.

SKNHEAD, which is set to be available online, as well as in department stores and exclusive hairdressers and barbers, is a range of products with a cross between hair care and skin care in one.

The idea came to Adee after he used coconut butter on his hands, which he then rubbed the remnants in his hair. Friends and industry professionals complimented Adee on the condition of his hair and he realised he’d stumbled onto a new product; a moisturiser that could also be used in the hair.

Adee, is sure that SKNHEAD is going to be success. He said: “I approach every project with confidence, but I know that it is a great attractive product and we have excellent marketing, and the product does what it says on the tin.

“The response so far has been fantastic and we have had a huge amount of interest in the range as it is different than anything else on the market.”

Adee, who has also cut and styled the hair of big names like Marco Pierre White and Liza Minneli, did open up several salons across the UK following his success in the early noughties. However, he decided to focus solely on products and online retail.

He said: “The industry is changing and online business is taking over completely, so I decided to put my all into my products.

“It is an exciting time to launch a new range in the industry, as bloggers and influencers are all looking for a product that has a unique selling point.”

Adee, who was an interior designer before he got involved in the hair and beauty industry, first found success after designing a salon for a very well-known hairdresser. Within days, he was working for Lee Stafford and later appeared in reality TV shows including The Salon and Secret Millionaire.

However, his career highlights go back to his humble beginnings, when he won his first award 17 years ago and when he had the opportunity to work with David Beckham, and creating one of the most iconic hair styles of the era.

Adee has high hopes for his SKNHEAD range, which will include a coconut-oil based skin moisturiser that can also be used in the hair, a conditioner, a beard and hair cleanser and gels and waxes. He said: “SKNHEAD is my main project at the moment, so I will continue to build the brand and work on getting it in front of the right salons and retailers.

“I also hope to expand the brand into different countries.”
