Specialist mutual reveals chairman-elect

Birmingham-based mutual Wesleyan, has an announced an experienced wealth manager as it its new chairman elect.

Nathan Moss, who has more than 35 years’ experience in the wealth management, bank and insurance sectors, also becomes a Non-Executive Director at the firm.

Mr Moss is expected to succeed the retiring chairman Bryan Jackson next year, subject to regulatory approval.

He will join Wesleyan’s board with immediate effect and is expected to assume the chairman’s position ahead of Wesleyan’s next annual general meeting in May 2018.

Mr Moss was previously Group Strategy Director at Friends Life from 2010-13, and prior to that Managing Director of Wealth Management at Lloyds TSB Group having joined Scottish Widows in 2002 as Managing Director Marketing & Distribution.

Prior to this he spent 18 years with HSBC Group including four years as General Manager, Personal Financial Services and culminating as COO of Merrill Lynch HSBC.

He is currently a NED of Canada Life Group (UK), and formerly a NED at HomeServe Membership Ltd and One Savings Bank.

Mr Moss was appointed following a thorough and robust selection process led by Phil Green, the society’s Deputy Chairman and Senior Independent Director.

Mr Moss said: “Wesleyan is a financially strong business with a proud and successful history. I’m looking forward to helping it build on that foundation to continue its success into the future.

I’m looking forward to working alongside Bryan before his well deserved retirement.”

Mr Jackson, former Managing Director of Toyota UK, has been Wesleyan chairman since 2010 and a member of its board since 2007.

He said: “It has been an honour to serve as Wesleyan’s chairman for what will be nearly eight years. In my time here we’ve negotiated one of the most turbulent periods ever for financial services. I am proud that Wesleyan not only weathered that storm, but continued to grow and flourish while holding true to its core values.

Wesleyan provides specialist financial services to doctors, dentists, lawyers and teachers. The mutual currently has more than £7bn of assets under management.
