Law firm Mills & Reeve has enjoyed another record year with turnover rising to £92.6m – an increase of 8% on last year.

The firm says it comfortably outperformed the average 4.6% growth of the other top 100 UK law firms.

It employs more than 900 people across its six offices, of which its Birmingham office is among its largest.

Steve Allen, head of the Birmingham office at Mills & Reeve, said: “Our Birmingham office has made an important contribution to these results. We have focused heavily on consolidating our position, driving growth across key areas including corporate, banking, IP and litigation. I am confident that this investment will allow us to build on our success and enable us to grow further in the coming year.”

Justin Ripman, Mills & Reeve’s senior partner, added: “We set ourselves some ambitious targets and are delighted to have achieved such significant growth. We are proud to be the only law firm in the UK top 100 to have consistently grown profit and turnover each year since 2002 – safely navigating the 2008 financial crisis in the process.”

Ripman is confident that the firm is well-placed to continue this progress in the face of external factors.

“Despite the current uncertainty in the market, with the triggering of Article 50 and recent General Election, we are optimistic that we will continue to grow the business and the recent merger with London law firm Maxwell Winward is evidence of this.

“Our commitment to creating a collaborative culture that focuses on core markets and sectors, means we can deepen our client relationships and deliver commercial, focused, sensible advice.”
