Retail units fill up after Guildhall refurbishment

The newly-refurbished Guildhall Buildings, seen by tens of thousands of people every day as they come out of Birmingham New Street station towards the city centre, has now filled its street-level retail units.

Costa Coffee has become the final tenant, taking the glass-fronted corner unit just yards from the station entrance, and joins delicatessens, hairdressers, dry cleaners and Yorks Coffee House and Bakery. Costa will open once a five-week fit-out is completed.

James Andrew of STR Investments said: “It is very pleasing to see all the retail units occupied as Costa Coffee recognise the significant benefits of being located in such an accessible and convenient position alongside New Street Station.”

The Navigation Street site is also now home to IT and tech firms, SMEs and start-ups in the office space above the retail units.

Andrew added: “Following a recently completed, high quality refurbishment that has really enhanced the offices and shared space in Guildhall Buildings, we have now released a range of attractive suites that is gaining growing interest from businesses in the region.”

The Victorian red brick Guildhall Buildings have office suites ranging from very small up to 2,000 sq ft.
