Contract deal sees Warwickshire racer move a step closer to Formula 1 ambitions

Jordan King

A rising racing driver from Warwickshire is a step closer to realising his Formula 1 ambitions after being signed up by a London-based sports agency.

Jordan King, son of former Sainsbury’s boss Justin King, has been snapped up by MB Partners, run by ex-Formula 1 driver and television commentator, Mark Blundell.

Jane Rudge, a senior associate solicitor at Midlands law firm Thursfields, advised the driver on the deal.

King, aged 23, began his motorsport career in karting in 2005 and graduated to single-seater racing in 2010. He now drives for MP Motorsport in Formula 2.

Ms Rudge said: “Jordan is an excellent sportsman and I’m so pleased to be able to help him get the best advice as his career develops.

“MB Partners is a well-respected and exciting sports management company and I’m sure this will help his career.”

King has taken part in F1 tests in the past, driving for the now-defunct Manor Marussia team in 2015 and in 2016 as an academy driver.

He said: “The next stage of my career is a really important one for me and I am really grateful for the advice from Jane.

“MB Partners has a proven record in supporting drivers through to the very top tiers of motorsport and I am excited about what we can achieve together in the years ahead.”

Blundell uses the agency to focus on elite motorsport and golfing talent. It also runs the MBP Academy for younger, talented drivers and is the only agency to have an in-house motorsport simulator.

He said: “Jordan is a hugely talented and motivated driver, one we have been wanting to work with for a long time.

“He has proven himself to be a race and championship winner and has all the capability to make it to the very pinnacle of motorsport. We are proud to represent him at MB Partners and hope to help him achieve his goals over the coming years.”

Blundell himself has had an illustrious career in motorsport, competing in more than 60 grands prix and winning the 1992 Le Mans 24 Hours with Peugeot-Talbot Sport.

MB Partners also represents 1996 F1 world champion Damon Hill, World Endurance Championship driver Mike Conway, DTM racers Tom Blomqvist and Gary Paffett and European Tour-winning golfer Jordan Smith.
