Barclays to close more branches across the region

Barclays is to close six West Midlands sites this autumn as part of its ongoing reduction of its branch network.

A further 54 locations have been confirmed as closing, although the bank plans to absorb staff into the rest of it operations.

“The number of physical Barclays branches will reduce overall but our branch network and the colleagues who work in them remain a vital part of our offering,” Barclays said.

The six affected sites are Craven Arms, Shropshire; Henley-in-Arden, Warwickshire; Kinver, Staffordshire; Penkridge, Staffordshire; Shifnal, Shropshire; Warwick University.

The first to close is the university branch, on September 11, with the last of the six, Henley-in-Arden, scheduled to shut on November 10.

Barclays said it “will continue to evolve the shape and size of our branch network, as well as improving and investing in the experience in-branch.”
