Kitchen manufacturer expands Birmingham presence with 15-year lease deal

A fitted kitchen manufacturer has expanded its presence in Birmingham with the lease on a new 20,000 sq ft unit.

Howdens Joinery, one of the UK’s largest manufacturers and suppliers of fitted kitchens, has agreed a 15-year lease deal with Legal & General for Unit 2 at Perry Park Industrial Estate, Walsall Road, Perry Barr.

The industrial estate is an established trade location. Selco Builders Warehouse is also located on Perry Park.

Birmingham commercial property agency KWB and Darby Keye acted as joint agents on behalf of Legal & General’s Industrial Property Investment Fund.

Kenny Allan, Director of Industrial Agency at KWB, said securing a tenant as high profile as Howdens was testament to the desirability of the site.

“There was fierce competition for this unit and we are confident that Howdens will have a successful future at Perry Park,” he said.

A trade-only business established in 1995, Howdens operates 640 depots across the UK and last year supplied over 400,000 kitchens, 2.5 million doors and 770,000 appliances to UK homes.

KWB and Darby Keye are also marketing industrial units of 5,000 sq ft, 11,000 sq ft and 18,000 sq ft on behalf of Legal & General’s Industrial Property Investment Fund at its nearby site, Tamebridge Industrial Estate.
