Work starts on 55,000 sq ft speculative warehouse scheme

Work starts on Airfield 55

Trebor Developments has begun work on its new 55,000 sq ft warehouse scheme in Aldridge.

The speculative project, being developed in conjunction Kay Properties, is expected to be ready for occupation next April.

A&H Construction is the building contractor for the project, which is dubbed Airfield 55 due to the site of the scheme on the former Aldridge airfield.

The project, which is benefiting from grant support from the Black Country LEP’s Growth Deal, will see a brownfield site brought back into commercial use, helping to create new jobs for the area.

Bob Tattrie, managing partner, Trebor said: “This new, quality, industrial accommodation is suitable for B2 manufacturing or B8 logistics/distribution uses and we expect strong interest from occupiers, given the lack of such sized accommodation across the Midlands.”

Stewart Towe, chairman of the Black Country LEP, added: “It is fantastic to see another great project start on site in the Black Country, which will see brownfield land developed to support our world-class manufacturing sector and create new employment in the area.”

Cllr Lee Jeavons, deputy leader and cabinet member responsible for regeneration at Walsall Metropolitan Borough Council, said the scheme was an excellent use of Growth Deal funding and would help to support business and grow jobs in the borough.

Airfield 55 is being marketed by joint agents Bulleys and Burley Browne.
