New editor joins TheBusinessDesk.com
TheBusinessDesk.com has appointed a former Guardian and BBC journalist as its North West editor.
Helen Carter joined the team this week and is based in its central Manchester office of the regional business news organisation.

TheBusinessDesk.com was founded 10 years ago and now operates across the North and Midlands.
Carter has spent the majority of her career in the region, most recently as a BBC journalist at North West Tonight and BBC News Online. Previously, she covered the north for the Guardian for 12 years and won an award for a profile she wrote on the late Hacienda founder and broadcaster Tony Wilson.
TheBusinessDesk.com’s Alex Turner said: “Helen becomes only our third North West editor in a decade and it is a key appointment for the business.
“Her experience and knowledge will be an asset both to our North West team and our wider editorial team and I look forward to her enhancing our news coverage in the region.”
Carter has also worked as a Visiting Fellow in Journalism at Liverpool Hope University and is a long-standing judge at the 02 Media Awards in both Yorkshire and the North West.
