Colliers director bids for seat on RICS Governing Council
A director in Colliers International’s Licensed and Leisure team in Birmingham is chasing support as she bids for a place on the governing council of RICS.
The RICS Governing Council is responsible for setting the vision and strategy for the chartered surveying profession. Voting for the 17 available seats on the council is now open but ends on Friday (November 3).
Monique Royle is one of 32 candidates nationally – and the only Midlands RICS member – competing for a seat on the body.
Ms Royle, who specialises in the valuation of leisure properties including pubs, function venues and coaching inns for secured lending purposes, is currently canvassing for support from fellow RICS members in the region.
She said: “I get such enjoyment from my job as a valuer and place great importance on integrity in the profession, so naturally I would take pride in representing the membership at the very highest level and contributing to the vision and strategy of the Institution that governs the chartered surveying profession.
“As a valuer, risk is always at the forefront of my mind, I need to be commercial in my decisions and balance risk with reward. I believe this mindset would be invaluable to the RICS and by joining the Governing Council, I will be able to assist in ensuring that we are in good shape for the challenges we face in this increasingly globalised and fast evolving marketplace.”

Outside of her role at Colliers International, Ms Royle is chair of the RICS West Midlands Regional Board and a trustee of DanceXchange, a Midlands-based dance organisation and charity.
