Hortons completes deals on 200,000 sq ft of commercial space

Birmingham-based property company, Hortons’ Estate, has secured lettings deals on 200,000 sq ft of commercial space at an industrial estate in Staffordshire.

The biggest single deal sees JCB dealer, Gunn JCB take out a five-year lease on 100,000 sq ft at the Marchington Industrial Estate. The deal, for Unit 34, will enable the dealer to operate a new customer machine preparation centre and parts outlet to replace an operation previously based in nearby Hilton.

In a second deal, Trade Price Stone, one of the UK’s largest importers and distributors of natural stone, has agreed a five-year lease on 25,000 sq ft in Unit 38.

Separately, existing tenants Lowe Refrigeration and PPS Midlands have both taken additional space on the estate, totalling 75,000 sq ft.

Lowe Refrigeration, which specialises in refrigeration and catering equipment rental, has taken a further 50,000 sq ft in Unit 38 on a six-year lease. It currently occupies 100,000 sq ft in Unit 37.

PPS Midlands has agreed a five-year lease on an extra 25,000 sq ft, also in Unit 38, adding to its existing 80,000 sq ft.

Marchington Industrial Estate comprises more than one million sq ft of industrial and warehousing space.

Since acquiring it in 2013, Hortons’ has invested more than £1m into the facility, constructing a number of new units and refurbishing existing ones.

Richard Norgrove, property director at Hortons’, said: “Our investment in the estate has paid dividends, attracting occupiers looking for quality industrial space in the centre of the Midlands’ transport and distribution network.

“As well as attracting new occupiers to the estate, it’s pleasing to see existing tenants committing further to the site by taking additional space.”
