Edwardian Tearooms adds festive fizz at the touch of a button

Edwardian Tearooms

One of the hidden gems of Birmingham’s hospitality sector has received something of a polish with the launch of a new service set to add a bit of fizz to its offering.

Set in the heart of the city’s Museum & Art Gallery, the Edwardian Tearooms harks back to a bygone era and offers visitors a haven from the coffee shops that now dominate our high streets.

Adding to its offer, the Museum & Art Gallery is partnering with champagne house Piper-Heidsieck to highlight its new ‘Press For Champagne’ service.

Each private booth in tearoom has been fitted with its own Champagne buzzer. This means that guests visiting the tearooms will be able to celebrate their afternoon tea in style and with the press of a button a glass of Piper-Heidsieck champagne will be delivered to their table.

Cuvées on offer include, the Brut NV, which is said to embody the house style, the “virtuosic and complex” Vintage 2008, and winner of the Mundus Vindi 2017 Grand Gold Medal with ‘Best of Show Champagne Vintage’, and ‘Champion of Champions’ at the 2017 International Wine Challenge, the exclusive Rare Millésime 2002, which can be pre-ordered for a special occasion.

Alex Nicholson-Evans, Commercial Director of Birmingham Museums Trust, said: “Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery and the house of Piper-Heidsieck have a long history of excellence in their respective fields, and this partnership just further demonstrates each company’s innovative talent.

“We are thrilled to be able to offer this new service to our customers – they can enjoy sipping champagne whilst knowing that they are helping the city’s museums, as all profits from the Edwardian Tearooms go to support Birmingham Museums Trust.”

James Taylor, Senior Brand Manager for Piper-Heidsieck, said: “We’re really excited to be bringing the award-winning champagnes to guests of the stunning Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery.”

The Edwardian Tearooms launches its festive lunch menu on Wednesday (November 15), with a festive afternoon tea available from December 3.

The venue will be the likely recipient of additional footfall once the Frankfurt Christmas Market starts on November 19, while the re-opening of the pedestrian route between Victoria Square and Broad Street, through the Paradise Birmingham development is also likely to entice more customers.
