50 jobs to be created at builders’ merchant

50 jobs are to be created as builders’ merchant Selco continues to develop its store network.

The company was founded in Birmingham in 1895 and will open its eighth West Midlands branch next month on the Cranmore Industrial Estate in Solihull.

The £400m-turnover company is based in Wythall, Birmingham, although is owned by Irish group Grafton.

Declan Ronayne, chief executive of Selco Builders Warehouse, said: “Selco has always enjoyed a very close affinity with Birmingham and the West Midlands area as a whole so we are delighted to be strengthening our offering to tradespeople in those areas.”

The opening forms part of a major branch expansion programme across the UK, during which Selco will have doubled the size of its trade-only business over a five-year period.

The Solihull branch will become the company’s 59th location when it opens next month.
