Appointments: Non-executive directors join Carillion and Marston’s
Carillion has appointed experienced finance director Justin Read as a non-executive director.
He has been appointed as chairman-designate of the Audit Committee and he will assume that post following the preliminary announcement of the group’s 2017 results.
Andrew Dougal will stand down as Chairman of the Audit Committee and retire from the board having served as a non-executive director since joining the board in October 2011.
Carillion chairman Philip Green said: “We are very pleased that Justin Read has joined the Board. He has substantial operational experience across the finance function of significant and international businesses, having served as a group finance director for over eight years and a proven track record of driving business growth.”
Read spent five years as group finance director of Segro following a three-year stint in the same role at Speedy Hire.
Justin will also serve as a member on the Remuneration, Nomination, Business Integrity and Health, Safety and Sustainability Committees.

Nick Backhouse is to step down as a non-executive director of pub group Marston’s in January, having served six years with the company.
Matthew Roberts, currently chief financial officer of Intu Properties, will then take on the role of chairman of the Audit Committee. Marston’s senior independent director Carolyn Bradley will also join the Audit Committee from the same date.

Chamberlin, the specialist castings and engineering group, has announced that non-executive director David Nicholas will step down as a director with immediate effect.
The board accepted his resignation and would like to thank David for his contribution to the group. Chamberlin said it will look to appoint an additional independent non-executive director in due course.
