JLL recruits new surveyors

JLL has strengthened its team in Birmingham, recruiting four new graduate surveyors.

The firm said the move underlined its commitment to developing the next generation of property professionals.

William Whitelock, who studied Urban and Regional Planning at Birmingham University, is retained in the city and begins his JLL career within the Planning team.

Joining him is Oxford Brookes graduate Bill Martyn-Smith, who heads for JLL’s Asset Management team. Keir Salter, joins the firm after studying Geography at Bristol University and is the latest graduate surveyor to be appointed to the Ratings team in Birmingham.

The quartet is completed by Leanne Field, who has become the new graduate surveyor in the Project & Development Services team.

The four new starts bring the total number of staff based in Birmingham to 100.

Ian Cornock, lead director for JLL Midlands, said: “We’ve had a real push on recruitment lately with new additions to the industrial, investment and valuation teams.

“Birmingham is one of the top regional offices for JLL and we’re benefiting from growth within the Midlands. We’re particularly pleased to be help retain students who studied in Birmingham whilst also attracting those from further afield into the city.

“To develop as a business and within the industry, we need fresh new ideas and input from the next generation of young professionals and not just those with traditional property related degrees. To think outside the box, you sometimes need to come at the industry from a different direction. I’m sure all four will be a big asset to JLL.”
