London developer appoints Birmingham PR firm to spearhead £500m portfolio

How The Timber Yard development will look

London-based property developer Apsley House Capital has appointed a Birmingham PR agency to raise its profile as it looks to expand its £500m property portfolio in the second city.

The appointment of Barques comes as the property developer is pushing ahead with three major residential developments as part of a joint venture with Galliard Homes.

The first is Hallmark, a 3.5-acre site in Northwood Street in the Jewellery Quarter, which involves the redevelopment of buildings currently occupied by manufacturing company, AE Harris, into a mixed residential and commercial scheme.

It also has planning consent to develop 504 homes and a data centre at Soho Loop, a 12-acre site, which adjoins the Old Loop, Birmingham Canal, as well as consent for The Timber Yard in Pershore Street, Southside, which will include around 400 apartments, ground-floor commercial space and car parking.

Paul Skipp, director of Jewellery Quarter-based Barques PR, said: “Apsley House Capital’s focus on Birmingham is an exciting new chapter for the company and we are thrilled to be appointed to advise on its PR strategy as it increases its presence in the city and in other regions including Bristol and the South West.”

Robin Norstrom, director of Apsley House Capital, said: “We were keen to work with a team of PR specialists that really understands the property sector in Birmingham and beyond and I believe the team at Barques PR will be hugely beneficial as we increase our development activity in the UK.”

Barques has also been appointed to undertake web, marketing and design work for the developer.
