Downing Street expansion after Midlands funding deal

The Prestige Suite

A West Midlands banqueting suite is expanding after securing a seven-figure funding deal.

The Prestige Suite, in Downing Street, Smethwick, is planning to expand its current facility by an additional 1,100m².

The company operating the facility specialises in catering for large scale events including weddings and, following the refurbishment, will be able to cater for up to 1,000 people at any given event.

In addition, the deal supplied by Barclays will also allow the business to expand its on-site parking facilities.

Director Ram Suglani said: “Since we opened in 2013, the business has gone from strength to strength. It became apparent that there was a demand for larger parties/weddings, particularly Asian weddings, and therefore we starting taking steps to expand our current site.

“We were fortunate enough to be chosen as the Best Banquet Centre 2017 at The British Asian Wedding Awards in London and also at the Midlands Asian Wedding Awards and we are keen to build on this success.”

Mohammed Fiaz, Relationship Director at Barclays said: “The Prestige Suite is a good example of a business which is responding to customer need. I am delighted we have been able to support them with the funding required to extend their existing site and look forward to seeing the building works completed.”

Work is expected to complete in the spring.
