Housebuilder acquires residential development site in £18m deal

A residential development site in Staffordshire has been sold to a national housebuilder in a deal worth more than £18m.

The 81-acre site, in Eccleshall Road, Walton, near Stone, has existing planning consent from Stafford Borough Council for up to 500 homes.

It has been sold to Persimmon Homes West Midlands by a private family trust and national residential land promoter Hallam Land Management, which is part of Henry Boot.

The planning consent includes provision for a significant financial contribution to be made via the S106 agreement, towards highway improvements, education, sports and recreation facilities and public open space.

Stephen Cleveley, director in charge of Persimmon Homes West Midlands, said: “We’re very excited to be bringing hundreds of high quality homes to the area, as part of the local authority’s housing plan.”

Martin Ward, a director at surveyors Mather Jamie, which brokered the sale, said: “We have worked closely with the promoters and our clients to ensure a satisfactory sale of this prime development land, on which Persimmon Homes will be building much needed new homes, of which 32% will be affordable housing.

“This site will prove an excellent investment and a superb location to build a new community.”
