Restaurant group expands with new Birmingham Airport outlet

A Birmingham-based restaurant group has invested in fresh expansion with the opening of a new outlet at Birmingham Airport.

Wrapchic will be offering passengers using the airport the opportunity to sample Indian-style street food as well as an extended menu including ‘The Great Indian Breakfast’. It will also be providing sandwiches and wraps that can accompany passengers on-board their aircraft.

The airport expansion comes five years after the business was launched.

With local branches within The Bullring, Dudley and Solihull, the company also has outlets in London, Sheffield, Bradford, Milton Keynes and even Dubai.

The product range at Birmingham Airport will feature some new choices, specially catering for the travellers. The new items include: Indian breakfast muffins, porridge and Indian-filled ‘parathas on a budget’ as well as an array of new fillings such as the egg bhurji and lamb kheema.

Wrapchic will also offer a takeaway option for passengers wishing to take something on board their flight featuring items such as a beetroot lamb sandwich or soya kadhai wrap.

Founder Mahesh Raikar said: “We are extremely excited to be invited to open our doors in such a popular airport close to where Wrapchic was born back in 2012. Our roots are in this city and we’re proud to say we are becoming a recognisable brand here.”

Richard Gill, Head of Commercial at Birmingham Airport, said: “We are looking forward to welcoming local business Wrapchic to the airport. We are confident the healthy and authentic Indian food will be very popular with our passengers.”

Wrapchic is not the only new addition to food and retail facilities at the airport.

Factory Bar and Kitchen has opened in the departure lounge with a menu offering British classics alongside local favourites. The diner’s decor is inspired by Birmingham’s industrial heritage.

The airport has also added to its roster of high-end retailers with the opening in the departure lounge of a new outlet by footwear brand Kurt Geiger.
