Traffic Alert: Two lanes closed on M6 into Birmingham

All lanes have now reopened but while conjection is clearing, there are still longs delays reported in the area.

Motorists using the M6 northbound for Birmingham are being warned of long delays following an accident between two vehicles which has closed two lanes of the carriageway.

The section of carriageway affected is between Junction 5 (Castle Bromwich) and Junction 6 (A38 Aston Expressway/Birmingham city centre).

Highways England has said queues are already back to Junction 4 (Coventry North) and the situation is unlikely to clear until after 8am.

There are currently delays of 30 minutes and these are expected to increase as rush-hour continues.

Drivers have been advised to avoid the area and seel alterative routes if possible. Failing that they should allow extra time for their journey.
