Board change at GKN as senior director stands down

Richard Parry-Jones

Midlands manufacturing group GKN has announced a board change after being notified by Senior Independent Director, Richard Parry-Jones, that he is to step down from his role after six years with the business.

In an announcement to the markets, the Redditch-based group said Mr Parry-Jones had indicated that he wished to stand down from the role as SID but remain as chairman of the group’s Remuneration Committee.

Mr Parry-Jones was first appointed to the board in March 2008 and became SID in May 2012.

He has extensive experience of the automotive industry having previously worked for the Ford Motor Company for 38 years, latterly as Group Vice-President Global Product Development and Group Chief Technical Officer.

He is also a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering, the Institution of Mechanical Engineers and the Royal Society of Statistical Science.

In addition, he is a former non-executive chairman of Network Rail, Kelda Eurobond and Yorkshire Water Services, as well as a former chairman of the Welsh Assembly Government Ministerial Advisory Group and the UK’s Automotive Council.

GKN said independent non-executive director, Angus Cockburn had agreed to replace Mr Parry-Jones as SID with immediate effect.

Separately, the company said the Nominations Committee had begun the task of recruiting a new non-executive Director to fill the vacancy left by Anne Stevens, following her appointment as Chief Executive.
