Veterinary practice expands after £1.6m funding deal

A Midlands veterinary practice has undergone expansion following a new funding deal.

Hope Veterinary Practice has relocated to a new veterinary clinic on Newstead Industrial Estate, Stoke-on-Trent following a £1.6m investment.

The relocation has enabled the practice to install new equipment such as digital X ray machines and an operating theatre to support 24-hour veterinary services.

The clinic is owned and managed by vet, Dr Deborah Wragg, who founded the practice in 2009 after a 20-year career in veterinary medicine.

After starting out as the only practice vet and with four support staff, she has built the practice up into a business employing 27 staff with seven qualified vets, six consulting rooms and more than 40 kennel spaces.

Dr. Wragg said the practice had more than 26,000 registered clients and it had had to close to new registrations due to capacity restrictions at its former base.

“The new purpose-built clinic will allow us to reopen our books and provide further quality, affordable care to more animals within the local area,” she said.

“The fantastic new premises are just a starting point as we aim to create a centre of excellence, providing the highest standards of animal care.”

Steve Sargeant, Relationship Director at Barclays, which facilitated the loan, said: “By working closely with our customer (we) have been able to provide innovative solutions to support Hope Veterinary Practice both financially and professionally throughout the relocation and expansion.

“Investment in the new premises demonstrates both Barclays and Deborah’s confidence in the potential growth and success of the business.”
