Sunny outlook for solar panels firm after move to larger premises

A Worcestershire solar panels supplier is targeting growth after moving to larger premises to meet demand.

The move by Eco2Solar to a new base at Hoo Farm Industrial Estate, Kidderminster is the culmination of a 12-month period of expansion for the business, which has also included the recruitment of 10 new staff to support its nationwide operation installing solar panels on property developments for some of the UK’s largest housebuilders.

Eco2Solar has been based in Worcestershire for more than a decade and currently employ 40 staff, who are split between office-based and site-based roles.

As well as enabling the firm to continue its growth over the next 12 months, the move to new premises has also brought cultural benefits for the company.

Paul Hutchens, managing director of Eco2Solar, said: “The layout of our old office was quite disjointed, but our new home is lighter, brighter and open-plan, which gives us a much better working environment and allows our team to be more interactive and work more collaboratively.”

Mr Hutchens launched the business from his kitchen table in Worcestershire over 10 years ago, and while Eco2Solar has now become a national operation with satellite teams operating in the South of England, Wales and Scotland, he maintains the view that Kidderminster is still an ideal location for a growing business.

“We’re very much part of the local community, with most of our staff living in or near the town, and as well as having great support from our (Worcestershire) Local Enterprise Partnership, we’re in the perfect central location for covering the length and breadth of the country,” he said.

“Our goal is to become the leading provider of solar power in the whole of the UK, and with our move to new offices and our plans to double our workforce within the next five years, that goal is growing closer every day.”
