Warwick-based telent Technology Services is to create 100 jobs after securing a major contract with Highways England.

Telent will take over the current National Roads Telecommunications Services (NRTS) network and provide an end-to-end managed service.

Chris Metcalfe, Telent’s managing director of technology solutions, described the win as “an outstanding accomplishment for telent”.

He said: “We are excited to soon begin work transforming the NRTS network and upgrade the nation’s strategic road network.”

Telent will support the provision of new telecoms services, including the development of smart motorways, to increase safety and helping to minimise delays. The company already employs 420 people at its Warwick headquarters and a further 80 at nearby Heathcote Business Park.

Matt Western, MP for Warwick and Leamington, welcomed Telent’s success.

He said: “Telent has an excellent reputation and this is underlined by this major new contract win. As far as I’m concerned, there’s a desperate need for greater investment in our infrastructure and road networks and I can only see this growing in the future.”
