People: Promotions at Pinsent Masons; New FD at building society; and more

The Birmingham office of law firm Pinsent Masons has promoted commercial litigation expert Andrew Herring to partner.

Herring is a successful trial litigator who specialises in conducting complex, multi-party, commercial litigation that has included appearing before the Supreme Court.

He is the sitting vice-chair of the Midlands Fraud Forum, which is the largest counter-fraud NGO outside London, as well as an ADR Group Accredited Mediator and member of the Commercial Fraud Lawyers Association

Also in Birmingham, it was announced that Faye Moore has been promoted to the position of legal director.  Moore has advised on a variety of commercial disputes and has a particular focus on the universities and higher education sector.

Tipton and Coseley Building Society has welcomed a new finance director.

Andy Lumby will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the society’s finance department, treasury matters, budgetary control and financial forecasting, as well as helping shape future strategy through his Board role and as a member of the Tipton’s Assets & Liabilities Committee.

Lumby qualified as a chartered accounted in 2002 while working at PwC. Prior to joining the society, he gained 14 years experience at a large regional building society, most recently as a member of the senior leadership team where he was responsible for the Finance, Treasury Risk and Credit Risk teams.

He said: “I was attracted by the Society’s focus on delivering personal service to members as well as its future strategic plans. There is a great deal to achieve in the years ahead and I look forward to using my past experience to help make a positive contribution to the Society’s future success.”

Richard Newton, the Society’s chief executive, added: “Andy’s industry knowledge, understanding of the workings of a large regional building society and proven track record will be a significant asset to the Tipton and we’re delighted to have him on board.”

A Midlands transport and third-party logistics specialist has continued to grow its team with the appointment of a new sales manager.

Yvette Styer joins Kingscote Rojay (KRL), a member of Palletways, Europe’s largest and fastest growing express palletised freight network, from GKN Freight Services where she was an operations coordinator.

Styer brings a wealth of international experience to KRL having worked in the Air and Sea logistics sector with companies such as DHL and Hellmann Worldwide Logistics.

As part of her role, she will be responsible for day to day sales for both existing and new clients and support the growth of the company’s Birmingham and Telford offices.

KRL’s Northern regional manager, Rob Burns, said: “Everyone is delighted to have Yvette on board and she’s fitting in well with the team.

“We pride ourselves in recruiting from the local community and believe staff with a strong local knowledge are a great asset to the company. Having lived in Birmingham for the last 10 years, Yvette was the perfect fit for this role and I have no doubt that she’ll make it her own.
