Developer sells 10 acre site for 215 homes

Developer St Modwen has sold its 9.8-acre Lickey Road site to Persimmon Homes for £10.8m.

The housebuilder has obtained planning permission for 215 homes, which it hopes will be up for sale by June/July. Onsite work is now underway.

The site in Longbridge, Birmingham, is part of St Modwen’s £1bn regeneration of the former MG Rover Works, which has so far created more than 350 family homes out of a projected 2,000 – some of which is deemed “affordable” housing” – as well as a £100m town centre, new offices, the £66m Bournville College, Longbridge Technology Park and the three-acre Austin Park.

Nick Whittingham, development director at St Modwen, said: “The sale of this site is another important step in the evolving transformation of Longbridge. It is in line with our strategy as we step up the disposal of residential land to capitalise on the continued good levels of demand from housebuilders for well-located land.”
