Aldi submits plans to extend head office

Aldi has completed the second stage of its head office expansion in Atherstone, Warwickshire.

It has also submitted plans for a £57m project to further extend the site on a 120,000 sq ft development on land adjacent to the Atherstone site. This will  increase the number of employees working across its UK-based buying team,  IT, marketing and logistics, according to the business.

 The second phase of the extension has new facilities including a development kitchen where Aldi’s UK Buying team will create and test new products.

Matthew Barnes, chief executive of Aldi UK and IRE, said: “This investment to enhance our support functions and logistics capabilities is about putting the long-term foundations in place to continue opening more stores across the UK.

“We have a unique business model that makes us the most efficient supermarket in Britain and we will continue investing in this to deliver the quality products and low prices that our customers have come to expect.”
