10,000 Carillion jobs have now been saved

More than 10,000 people who worked at Carillion before the construction giant went into liquidation have now found jobs after the latest deal by the Official Receiver.

It confirmed a further 179 staff have been transferred to new employers, taking the running total to 10,125 jobs.

However 23 people will leave their jobs this week with their positions judged to be “no longer required”, adding to the 1,802 redundancies that had already been confirmed.

More than 5,000 workers are still retained to enable Carillion to deliver the remaining services it is providing for public and private sector customers until decisions are taken to transfer or cease these contracts. Talks are ongoing with potential purchasers for those remaining contracts.
