Rob Deaves and Lee Fellows have joined Grant Thornton's wealth advisory team in Birmingham

Grant Thornton has boosted its wealth advisory team with two senior appointments.

Lee Fellows and Rob Deaves have joined the firm’s Birmingham office.

David Hillan, practice leader at Grant Thornton in Birmingham, said: “Lee and Rob’s appointments demonstrate our continued investment in the regional senior team and enable us to build on the firm’s growing wealth advisory practice.

“They both possess high levels of technical skill and expertise plus a real desire to understand clients’ financial ambitions.”

Fellows has 18 years’ experience in financial services, most recently in wealth management advisory positions at Heartwood Investment Management, a subsidiary of Handelsbanken, and Arthur J Gallagher.

Rob Deaves joins from Santander in Leamington Spa where he was a senior financial planning manager, and has previously worked for HSBC and RBS.

Thursfields Solicitors has attracted team of three to join its expanding wills and estates department in Worcestershire.

The Midlands law firm has appointed Sharon Oakley as a senior associate in its Kidderminster office. She moves from her role as head of private client at Waldrons Solicitors and previously spent 10 years at Talbots Law.

She is joined by legal assistant Jodie Harper, who worked with her at both Waldrons and Talbots.

Laura Smith has been appointed as associate solicitor at Thursfields’ Worcester office, joining from Knights Professional Services in Cheltenham.

Michelle Hetheridge, a director at Thursfields and head of the wills and estates department, said: “We are rapidly expanding across the Midlands and so it was pleasing to have attracted such high-calibre staff from other local firms.”

Martin Ramsey, MHA MacIntyre Hudson

Martin Ramsey has been promoted to partner at MHA MacIntyre Hudson’s Birmingham office.

Ramsey joined the accountancy firm 14 months ago as part of its growth plans in the region, after more than 15 years with Grant Thornton.

Chris Barlow, head of MHA’s Birmingham office, said: “We were delighted when Martin joined the firm and had great faith that he would make a major contribution to the practice and this has been fully justified.

“Martin has contributed new ideas and thinking, which we have been keen embrace and implement, as well as leading our work in his areas of expertise with medical practices and legal firms.”

Ramsey added: “I joined MHA MacIntyre Hudson because of the firm’s clear focus on the SME market and its commitment to certain sectors which fits well with my own interests and aspirations. My first year with the firm has been fantastic and I continue to see a huge opportunity for us to expand our client base and offering in the Midlands.”
