Briefs: Thursfields Solicitors, Gateley and Big Cat

 

Midlands law firm Thursfields Solicitors acted for a Midlands couple to purchase Calloose Caravan and Camping Park, near St Ives in Cornwall.

Alongside the £1.5m sale, Thursfields helped Redditch-based Joanne and Warren Dixon set up of a new trading company to run and develop the business.

The Dixons were already owners of two local exhibitions and events companies.

Gateley, the legal business of law-led professional services group Gateley, has been named as the UK legal advisor to global steel engineering organisation, Waagner-Biro Stahlbau AG.

Headquartered in Vienna, the group has more than 1,000 employees in 15 locations across Europe, the Middle East and Southeast Asia.

Waagner-Biro Stahlbau AG work on major international landmarks, including the roof of the British Museum, the dome of the Gherkin in London, the staging and acoustics of Sydney Opera House, and the Yas Marina Hotel in Abu Dhabi.

David Lloyd Jones, construction partner at Gateley Plc’s Birmingham office, said: “This is a real testament to the team’s reputation for providing a comprehensive and practical service to a broad range of industry players, both domestically and internationally.”

 

Academics from the University of Birmingham are working with marketing communications agency Big Cat to explore the impact of figurative messages within advertising using state-of-the-art technologies. It will aim to explore how information is presented to viewers and how they respond to it, and will focus on supporting non-profit organisations and “ethical advertising campaigns”, using academic research techniques such as eye tracking software to underpin active advertising campaigns.

The research will be conducted by professor Jeannette Littlemore, Dr Paula Perez-Sobrino, and Samantha Ford.
