People: Law firm boosts Birmingham presence; Colliers makes raft of promotions; and more

Stone King has strengthened its presence in Birmingham with two key appointments.

The firm has welcomes senior associates Esther Maxwell and Charlotte Melhuish to its education team. Both will join Stone King in May from Harrison Clark Rickerbys.

Maxwell originally practised as an employment lawyer before broadening into education law. At Stone King she will advise schools on a range of matters including academy conversions and transfers, safeguarding and special educational needs (SEND) pupils.

Melhuish is a specialist education solicitor with particular expertise in SEND and safeguarding issues for independent schools and academies. She has built up her education experience at firms including Veale Wasbrough Vizards, Darbys Solicitors (now Knights) and latterly at Harrison Clark Rickerbys, as well as through her role as a school governor.

Colliers International has announced the promotion of 49 employees across the UK and Northern Ireland, with seven of these in the Birmingham office.

Deborah Clarke in Colliers’ rating team and Ian Walsh from licensed and leisure have both been promoted to associate director. Meanwhile, Philip Blenkinsop from the automotive and roadside team alongside Adele Farell, David Hadley, Abel Hailaeb and Christopher Wilson from the rating team have been promoted to senior surveyor.
