People: Senior hire for law firm; Accountancy appointment to boost firm’s regional education team; and more

Law firm Bevan Brittan has expanded its capability in the housing sector with another senior appointment.

Sarah Greenhalgh joins as a senior associate based in Bevan Brittan’s Birmingham offices. She has substantial knowledge and experience within the housing sector, and will focus particularly on corporate, transactional and governance work for housing clients, including housing associations and local government.

She was previously an associate at Anthony Collins Solicitors in the city, where she advised on mergers, corporate re-structures and joint ventures. She is a law graduate from the University of Birmingham.

She said:“I am naturally delighted to be joining Bevan Brittan to assist with and grow the exciting work the firm already undertakes for its housing clients. The need to provide more quality housing remains a critical issue – not just here in the Midlands – but also in many areas of country, and I look forward to working with a range of clients and agencies in finding innovative ways to meet this vital social need.”

Heather Wheelhouse and Nick Simkins

Accountancy firm Moore Stephens has appointed a new partner to work with education clients, including independent schools and academies across the Midlands.

Heather Wheelhouse, who has over 20 years’ experience working in the not-for-profit sector, has joined the Birmingham office as part of the firm’s strategy to increase its work with independent schools in the region.

She will help school leaders navigate crucial issues, such as how to balance ensuring independent education remains affordable whilst allowing schools to continue to invest in campus development and attract and retain the best teachers.

She joins Moore Stephens, where she will focus on working with Midlands clients while working between Birmingham, London and Bristol, as the leader of the newly-formed Independent Schools team.

She said: “I joined Moore Stephens because they have a real commitment to the not-for-profit sector.

“I have worked with charities and schools in the past and education is where my passion lies.

“The landscape is always changing in education and new rules and regulations are coming into play all of the time, there is so much we can do to help those who run independent schools.”

Nick Simkins, who heads up Moore Stephens’ national Not-For-Profit Group, said: “Heather’s desire to work with not-for-profit organisations and passion for education means she is ideal to head up our new independent schools team in the Midlands.

PR, marketing and event management specialist Rewired has welcomed Amy Williams as senior account manager.

Having worked with brands like Oxfam, Chrysler Jeep, Michelin Great Britain and Vax, Williams brings a wealth of B2B and B2C experience across both traditional and digital media.

In her new role, she will be responsible for managing a number of prestigious accounts including the Mailbox, Heal’s, Cadbury World, Tom’s Kitchen and Kirstie Allsopp’s Handmade Fair where she will oversee the delivery of PR, marketing, content and events.
