60 jobs under threat at Shakespeare Martineau

Some 60 jobs are under threat at law firm Shakespeare Martineau as the company announced it is to shut two of its offices as part of a restructuring process.

The Birmingham-headquartered firm will shut its Leicester Meridian office and consolidate its city footprint into its Colton Square base, as well as close its serviced Manchester office.

Shakespeare Martineau, which posted revenue growth of around 5% last financial year, says it will be see a number of people relocate, but that 60 roles from business operations through to membership will be are in danger.

Andy Raynor, chief executive, said: “We realise that this is difficult news for the individuals involved, especially during a period of continuing success. We are doing everything we can to support them, and where possible will find alternative roles for them within the firm. Our strategic direction and associated investment is clearly set out and by making these changes now, the main board and partners will be creating a platform for the firm’s further growth in the future.

“As we announced some months ago, I am leaving the firm later this year and in my remaining time with the firm I will continue to vigorously pursue our plans. With the proven leadership structures that are in place, I am certain the business is in a strong position to deliver all its strategic plans for growth.”
