French civil engineers buy surveying business

Yotta Surveying

Leamington Spa firm Yotta Surveying has been sold to the French civil engineering firm the Ginger Group for an undisclosed sum.

The Ginger Group will now have a significant presence in the UK civil projects surveying business, to add to their strong position in France, Germany and Poland.

Yotta Surveying provides surveying services to government agencies, as well as to local government and major contractors, especially on large infrastructure projects.

Through the disposal of Yotta’s surveying business, Oxford Metrics will be free to focus on their core offer of software, consultancy and analysis services by retaining ownership of Yotta.

Both the Ginger Group and Oxford Metrics have said they will work in close partnership to ensure a smooth transition for both companies.

The chief executive of Oxford Metrics, Nick Bolton, said: “We know that in Ginger Group, the surveying business has a strong, committed new owner and that our surveying team joins a bigger organisation capable for nurturing and growing these assets.

“For Oxford Metrics shareholders, we take one further step along our five-year plan and move forward as an increasingly dependable, recurring revenue based business.”

The deal was managed by Cattaneo, the Birmingham corporate finance advisors, on behalf of Oxford Metrics.

Martyn Pilley of Cattaneo said: “This is the second non-core divestment we have completed in a matter of weeks, in this case working closely with our client over an extended time scale, while we worked through separation issues and prepared pro-forma financial data that allowed for an overseas buyer to enter the UK market. We are delighted to have achieved a successful outcome for Oxford Metrics and Yotta surveying.”
