Data breach appears to reveal fate of hundreds of agency workers at JLR

Jaguar Land Rover is investigating an embarassing data breach which appears to reveal which agency workers will leave the business, before the individuals have been told.

The documents have been obtained by the Huffington Post, which said they “have been widely shared among the workforce”.

The manufacturing giant had previously announced 1,000 agency staff would be let go in response to a drop in demand.

Details of 647 agency staff, including their leaving dates and disciplinary records, have been revealed.

Jaguar Land Rover said: “We are aware of this extremely serious situation and we have raised this matter with DHL and we are investigating.

“We take the personal data and security of Jaguar Land Rover employees extremely seriously.”

The workers are all with Staffline, an agency which is working on behalf of German logistics firm DHL.

“DHL is aware of an incident concerning a document containing a limited amount of personal data of a number of agency workers on the account,” it said.

“Together with our partner Staffline we are investigating the cause as a matter of priority. DHL takes data security extremely seriously and we will ensure that steps are taken to prevent such an incident reoccurring in the future.”
