Worcestershire food firm wins £50m contract

Kanes Foods of Evesham, already the biggest private employer in Worcestershire, has won a three year contract worth £50m to supply ready-to-eat salad bowls to a leading UK supermarket.

Kanes CEO Steve Corby said: ” We are delighted to have been awarded this new business and all credit must go to the team who have worked very hard to secure a long term commitment from a major new customer for Kanes.”

Kanes employs 1,500 people and annually produces around 150m units of washed and ready- to -eat bags and bowls of salad, fresh stir fry vegetables, noodles and sauces, fresh salad dressings and ready to cook prepared vegetables for its grocery and food service customers.

The deal means that Kanes will invest in a new production line at Middle Littleton that will be “the fastest and most technologically advanced possible” according to Corby, who went on to say that the investment in advanced capability ” underscores our recent success and our vision for the future; its something we are very excited about. Here at Kanes we are committed to developing healthy meal solutions for everyone and this offering will give shoppers a wider choice of high quality, great tasting, healthy salad meals.”
