Evolve cafe at Pebble Mill

Civil and structural engineering consultancy JPG has expanded its services with the launch of a Birmingham office.

The Birmingham office will co-ordinate all the projects from outer London and across the south, working on various size projects in the residential, leisure, industrial and commercial sectors.

The business employs 50 people, with the vast majority based at its Leeds head office, but it is looking to establish and grow its Midlands team from its new base in the Cornwall Building on Newhall Street.

Chris Harding, director at JPG, said: “Our main goal is to ensure we continue to provide all of our clients a high level of service. We decided that we could better support the increasing Southern project wins by expanding our team in Birmingham.

“There are tremendous opportunities in the South with demand for housing, offices and commercial premises rising.”

Addiction charity Aquarius has opened a second site just six months after launching its first social enterprise cafe.

Evolve first opened at the site of the troubled Adam and Eve pub in Digbeth, while Evolve 2 is at Pebble Mill on the Pershore Road.

The cafes help provide young people who have issues surrounding addiction and mental health with training and job opportunities.

Kate Hemming, a Senior Practitioner at Aquarius and the project lead for Evolve, said: “Our team has worked really hard to make the social enterprise a success – they’re dedicated to providing a quality service to our customers and really passionate about making a difference to the local community.

“Their dedication has already proved fruitful as all profits from the first Evolve have been re-invested back into the business, which meant that we were in a position to open Evolve 2, with more locations planned as we continue to grow.”
