Birmingham City in Trillion naming rights deal

Birmingham City are changing the name of their home ground from St Andrew’s, which opened in 1906, to ‘St Andrews Trillion Trophy Stadium’ as part of a three year sponsorship deal with their new Chinese owners.

The club’s chief executive Xuandong Ren said: “In renaming the ground we were acutely aware of the emotions surrounding this subject, hence it was agreed to retain St Andrew’s in the title – our home that we know means so much to our supporters.”

The club’s training facility at Wast Hills will also be renamed as the ‘Trillion Trophy Training Centre.’

Trillion Trophy Asia took ownership of Birmingham City in October 2016 when they bought the club from Hong Kong based Carson Yeung.

In a statement , the club added: “The three year deal helps strengthen and diversify Blues revenue streams and will assist towards improving the playing squad and facilities at both the ground and the training site. Trillion Trophy Asia will benefit from increased exposure and commercial, brand and marketing opportunities to grow their business.”

A spokesman for Trillion Trophy Asia said: “We are proud to to be able to put our name to an iconic venue such as St Andrew’s and to the Wast Hills training centre. This cements our bond with and our backing of the club and we are looking forward to a successful partnership.”

No price has been out on either of the new naming rights deals, other than to describe them as ‘significant.’
