Chiltern railways get passenger accolade

Chiltern Railways

Chiltern Railways have been voted the best train company to London from the Midlands in a recent passenger survey.

Transport Focus, an independent body that represents the views of rail passengers nationally, commissioned the National Rail Passenger Survey (NRPS) to undertake the survey, which is based on an analysis of overall satisfaction, with emphasis on 30 specific aspects of service.

91% of Midland travellers rated Chiltern’s service as “good or satisfactory”, against a national average of 81%.

Dave Penney, the managing director of Chiltern Railways said: “Only last week ORR data was released showing Chiltern passenger journeys were up 6.4% against national decline, and we attribute this to our commitment to customer service and consistent innovation.”

“In response to passenger feedback and given our commitment to continuous improvement, we have already invested £2m in new ticket machine to make travelling with us easier. We have also upgraded our website and App, to make it a one-stop ticket buying shop for passengers and we continue to develop this App based on what passengers tell us.”

“This round of the NPRS demonstrates the hard work of our teams” Penney concluded, ” but we want to do more to give our passengers the experience they deserve by enhancing car parking facilities, and ensuring we never give up on improving on punctuality . We have plans to invest in our stations and we are investing a further £2m in new ticket offices and station facilities over the coming year.”
