Galliford Try develops two sites in Wolverhampton

Galliford Try Partnerships has acquired two sites in Wolverhampton from Bouyges, which is withdrawing from the low-rise family housing market.

The two sites, one at the Tower and Fort works in Graiseley, and the other at the former Tap Works location in Low Hill, will deliver 227 homes in total, some for affordable council rent and others for the private open market.

Galliford Try Partnerships chief executive, Stephen Teagle said: “We are really pleased to step in and work with the City of Wolverhampton Council to progress the the proposals at Tap Works and Tower and Fort Works. Our intervention ensures these significant projects are delivered as originally agreed.

The Tower and Fort site will deliver 77 homes, a quarter of which will be set aside as affordable council houses, with the rest to be sold as market housing. The development will consist of a mixture of two, three, four and five bedroom houses, plus five apartments, including two wheel chair accessible flats. This project starts at the end of this summer and should be finished by the end of 2020.

The Tap Works development is bigger, delivering 150 “high quality homes” on three currently derelict locations at the former Armitage Shanks works site as well as at Fifth Avenue and Broome Road. 40 of the units will be council homes for rent and the rest will be sold as market housing. The first council homes should be completed within one year, and the rest of the development, within three years.
