Manufacturers combine to bridge the skills gap

140 West Midlands manufacturing companies have signed up to a new organisation, The In-Comm Training and Manufacturing Group (ITMG), that has been set up to help with access to technology, business and learning support.

ITMG is a not for profit organisation, with varying levels of membership to make sure the initiative is open to all from local SMEs to multi-national businesses with multiple facilities around the globe. Professional partners have been appointed to help member forms to overcome barriers to growth including providing legal and HR advice as well as support when seeking finance and managing expansion.

Chris Sadler, general manager of Castalloy Europe and executive board member of ITMG, said: “Industry is extremely competitive at the moment, and it could get harder with complications from tariffs and unknown effects from Brexit negotiations. The whole reason we started ITMG is to bring together companies that can share best practice and give them specialist expertise, the latest information and access to technical academies and technology that improves their manufacturing performance and supports the development of new products.”

Current ITMG membership covers an array of companies from the engineering and manufacturing sectors, automotive and aerospace, oil and gas, and nuclear, with the most recent additions including A&M EDM, Alca Fasteners, Rudd Macnamara, Mechatherm International, SMB Pressings and Yeoman Pressings.
